Service Availability Notice. Paxtra is preparing to launch its payment services. Certain features, including live payment processing, seller payouts and transaction dispute resolution, may not yet be available. Features, payment methods, fees and geographical availability are subject to confirmation before launch. Paxtra will update its applicable policies and provide notice where required before enabling additional services.
1. Overview
1.1 Paxtra Inc. (Paxtra) provides a platform that helps buyers and independent sellers or service providers transact more safely. This page explains how payments work on Paxtra. It sits alongside the Terms of Service, the Fee Schedule, the Refund and Cancellation Summary and the Dispute Resolution Policy. If anything here differs from the Terms, the Terms prevail.
1.2 Paxtra is a technology and payment-facilitation platform. Paxtra is not a bank. Paxtra does not guarantee any transaction, buyer or seller.
2. How a payment works
A transaction normally follows these steps:
Agree → Review → Pay → Fulfil → Confirm → Release → Payout
Agree. The buyer and seller agree the goods or services and the price, and record them in a Paxtra transaction.
Review. Each party reviews the transaction details before paying.
Pay. The buyer pays through Paxtra using a supported payment method. Payments are processed by Stripe.
Fulfil. The seller delivers the goods or performs the service.
Confirm. The buyer confirms they received what was agreed. Confirmation is the normal route to release, but not the only one. Other outcomes, such as release after the Review Period where the conditions in the Terms are met, a dispute decision or a refund, follow the Terms and the Dispute Resolution Policy.
Release. Paxtra authorises the seller’s net entitlement for payout.
Payout. Paxtra initiates the authorised transfer through Stripe, and the seller receives it in their bank account.
The seller’s entitlement does not become withdrawable until the release conditions are met.
3. Stripe
3.1 Payments are processed through Stripe, which acts as Paxtra’s payment processor and identity verification provider. Paxtra intends to integrate Stripe Connect for sellers. The exact Stripe configuration is being finalised. Using Stripe does not mean Stripe endorses Paxtra, that Paxtra is partnered with Stripe, or that Paxtra is exempt from any requirement that applies to it.
3.2 Sellers. Before receiving payouts, a seller must complete Stripe’s connected-account onboarding and identity verification, and accept Stripe’s connected-account terms where Stripe requires it. We aim to keep onboarding within the Paxtra experience as far as is technically and contractually possible.
3.3 Buyers. Card and wallet details are collected and processed by Stripe. Paxtra is not intended to store full card numbers or security codes. See the Privacy Policy.
3.4 While a transaction is in progress. Your payment is processed through Stripe under our payment arrangements and the Terms. Paxtra does not describe itself as operating an independent escrow service. The way funds are held and safeguarded while a transaction is in progress depends on those arrangements, which we will describe in more detail when they are finalised.
4. Payment methods
4.1 At launch, buyers can pay with credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Availability depends on Stripe’s support, your device and your location.
4.2 Interac and bank transfers are not offered at launch. We may add other payment methods later, and we will update this page when we do.
4.3 Pilot limits. The initial pilot supports transactions from C$10 to C$500, in Canadian dollars, and prioritises Canadian-issued cards and supported digital wallets. Higher transaction amounts are not available until the necessary commercial, operational, technical and regulatory approvals are complete.
5. Fees
5.1 Buyers pay the exact price agreed with the seller, with no additional Paxtra platform fee. Sellers and service providers pay the Paxtra transaction fee, which is deducted from their proceeds before they receive their net entitlement. For the pilot, the proposed fee is 5.5% of the transaction amount, with a minimum of C$3.00. Paxtra intends to pay Stripe’s standard processing charges from its own fee. See the Fee Schedule at /payments for current rates, planned pricing and the effective date.
5.2 For example, if a buyer pays C$200 in the pilot, the Paxtra fee is C$11.00 and the seller’s net entitlement is C$189.00. The seller’s entitlement does not become withdrawable until the release conditions are met.
6. Currencies and conversion
6.1 The pilot prioritises Canadian dollars (CAD). We may offer other currencies later where they are supported, after the fees and locations have been confirmed.
6.2 Stripe may convert currencies where supported and required. The exchange rate and any conversion charge are set by Stripe and shown to you where practicable. Rates may differ from market rates and may change.
6.3 Showing a currency does not mean Paxtra is authorised to operate in every country that uses it.
7. Payout timing
7.1 Once a transaction is authorised for release, a standard payout is expected to arrive approximately 2 to 7 business days later. The time depends on Stripe’s payout schedules, the receiving bank, weekends, holidays and verification requirements. It is an estimate, not a guarantee. Standard payouts carry no additional Paxtra charge.
7.2 Instant payouts are planned as an optional service for eligible sellers, after release, and only once they are technically supported and approved. The charge, which is planned as 1.5% of the eligible payout amount (minimum C$1.00), will be shown before you confirm a request. Eligible instant payouts may arrive within minutes, but no arrival time is guaranteed. They never bypass our release and dispute procedures.
8. Holds, reviews and reversals
8.1 We and Stripe may delay, hold or stop a payment or payout for fraud prevention, compliance checks, identity verification, an open dispute, or a legal or technical reason, as the Terms allow.
8.2 A payment may be reversed through a chargeback or bank dispute. A decision by Stripe or a card network may differ from Paxtra’s own. See the Terms and the Dispute Resolution Policy.
9. Refunds
Refunds ordinarily go back to the original payment method and appear within approximately 5 to 10 business days after successful processing. The time depends on Stripe, the payment method and the receiving bank, and is an estimate, not a guarantee. See the Refund and Cancellation Summary.
10. Where live payments are available
10.1 You can visit the Paxtra website from many places. Access to the website is not the same as being eligible to use live payment services.
10.2 These are different things, and each has its own eligibility:
| What | Position at launch |
|---|---|
| Visiting the website | Open to visitors from anywhere. Visitors keep any privacy rights the law gives them. |
| Joining the early-access waitlist | Open, subject to the Privacy Policy. |
| Creating a seller account | Available only in eligible Canadian provinces, excluding Quebec. |
| Making a live payment | Available only in eligible Canadian provinces, excluding Quebec, once live payments are enabled. |
| Receiving payouts | Available only to eligible sellers in eligible Canadian provinces, excluding Quebec, once live payments are enabled. |
Quebec and other markets may be added later, after the language, legal, regulatory and operational requirements are met. We will not suggest that payment services are available in Quebec during the initial phase.
10.3 Availability of registration, payments, payment methods, currencies, seller onboarding, identity verification and payouts depends on your location, applicable laws, regulatory requirements and the capabilities of our payment service providers, including Stripe.
10.4 Paxtra may restrict, suspend or decline services in any place where payment processing, payouts, compliance requirements or other operating conditions cannot be met.
11. Regulatory status
Paxtra is assessing the regulatory requirements that apply to its payment activities, including under the Retail Payment Activities Act and Canada’s money services business rules. Live payment services remain switched off until the applicable regulatory, technical and operational requirements are met. Nothing on this page states that Paxtra holds any licence, registration or authorisation, or that using Stripe gives Paxtra an exemption.
